The Beauty Products You Need in Your Travel Bag

As things seem to move cautiously towards a semblance of normal, our lives are beginning to transition back to partaking in the activities we took for granted, namely – traveling. Even though many of us still haven’t booked our next vacation, the continuous vaccine rollout across the country is allowing us to begin to venture outside and plan for more outdoor activities. Whether it’s a vacation to the beach, a road trip, or a stay-cation at your favorite boutique hotel, you’re going to want a refresher on how to pack and more importantly, what skincare and beauty products you’ll need as the perfect travel companions.

I for one am taking advantage of the seasonal transition to warmer weather, being fully vaccinated, and the craving for a change of scenery to embark on weekend trips. My latest adventure was a resort getaway where I spent the weekend at the beach and under the sun. Of course, I had to bring along my must-haves in my beauty travel bag, making me realize just how important it is to have an essential guide on what I couldn’t live without. This becomes uber important when forced to pack light, or in many cases not overwhelm the hotel vanity when not traveling solo. From a daily routine, environmental protection, and a natural evening glam, here’s the Beauty Editor Travel Guide for your next trip.

The Simply Put: Non-Negotiables

Cleansing is an essential step in any skincare routine, especially when you’re spending the weekend out and about and facing environmental stressors. The easiest way to protect your skin is by cleansing morning and evening and what better way than easily packing the Non-Negotiables® AM + PM Cleansers! Think of these cleansers as day and evening washes that help remove impurities without over-drying. The AM Cleanser is formulated with Salicylic Acid to gently exfoliate the skin, without over-drying. 24/7 Sun Protection

Some R+R in the sun is my favorite way to indulge in true ‘vacay vibes’ and although spending the day absorbing the sunshine can boost your serotonin and Vitamin D, it can also be extremely harmful to your skin if you’re over-exposed to the UVA+UVB rays. So, protecting my skin is arguably the most important step in my vacation routine, and with this, you must come prepared with the right products for ideal protection. Whether I am just hanging out by the beach, or continuously staring at my phone while on that same glorious beach, you can bet I will be protecting my most vulnerable area of my skin: my eyes. To treat, protect, and shield my eye area, I recommend a three-pronged approach:

TREAT: I use the Divine Elixir Luminous Skin Eye Oil, which is potent in Vitamin C and shown to help protect against UV damage and specifically Blue Light.
PROTECT: Then, I’ll continue my skincare routine, ending with the crucial step of sunscreen. I always opt for a sunscreen option that is SPF 35 or above for days when I know I will be out and under the sun for an extended period. Lastly, I’ll apply the Divine Elixir Luminous Skin Lip Oil for added UV and Blue Light protection, hydration, and to maintain my lip’s moisture throughout the day.
SHIELD: I never leave home without my favorite pair of sunnies that also duals as my blue-light protection. For this, I’m a big fan of everything Quay Australia. Indoors, I wear their blue-light protecting glasses, and then my big sunnies once I hit the sunshine.

No-Makeup Makeup Look

I like to keep my vacation glam simple and easy so that I can spend more time enjoying my time off rather than worrying about hauling my entire vanity with me in my carry-on. My go-to ‘no makeup’ makeup look includes:

Two coats of the Scientific Color™ 4-in-1 Mascara for extra volume and natural length.

I love adding the Deep Wrinkle Protocol Age Reset Lips to any glam look for a quick plump look – plus, it added a layer of natural shine that elevates any look!

Lastly, I use the Scientific Color™ Glass Effect Treatment Balm in Shimmer for that high sheen, dewy glam look. Love that this balm also adds the perfect amount of hydration while also plumping away any surface fine lines and wrinkles that may appear due to aging or dehydration. It is the perfect magic trick to always have in your travel bag!

Beauty Editor Hack: for an easy evening glam look, use your Power Perfect Foundation + Concealer. For light coverage, I use my fingers to touch up under my eyes and over any blemishes for a more even, flawless finish.
