How to Refresh Summer Skin
RAYYAN, BEAUTY EDITOR | JULY 21, 2021

As we embrace the heatwave that is summer months, coupled with a changing climate, it’s safe to say staying cool and hydrated is a top priority for many of us. With rising temperatures, we can expect our body to respond best it can by attempting to keep us cool, which often leads to transepidermal water loss or sweating. This depletion of liquids can result in dehydrated skin if not properly cared for. If the onset of summer is causing your skin to feel or look like it needs some love, fret not as we’ve curated a list of easy ways to refresh your skin this season:

Stay Hydrated!
The first, and arguably most important, thing you’ll want to remember is to drink enough water! You may be thinking obviously, however dehydrated skin is often a sign of not having enough water in your daily diet. Did you know the ideal daily water intake equates to ½ your body weight in ounces? The second step to hydration is a great moisturizer. If your skin tends to lean more on the drier side or needs extra moisture and hydration, the Divine Elixir Luminous Firming Cream will be your savior. This cream is clinically proven to lock in moisture for 72 hours after application, keeping your skin extra supple and refreshed. If you tend to be on the oilier side of things, the Divine Elixir Firming Algae Facial Oil will be your best ally for perfectly balanced summer skin.
Reset + Refresh
Our skin can experience a range of different levels of hydration and dehydration throughout the day, depending on certain lifestyle habits or exposure to environmental aggressors. A great way to combat changes in skin hydration is to reset your skin with an additional skincare step. The Non-Negotiables® Enriched Softening Essence+ is loaded with coconut water, which delivers a flood of electrolytes to the skin. This helps to revive skin and provide the extra hydration it needs. Sometimes, when skin is dehydrated, it can manifest in other signs of irritation such as Inflammaging, which is the chronic state of irritation. When this happens, skin becomes imbalanced and can appear red, patchy, or uneven. The Divine Elixir Firming Algae Facial Oil is proven to help reduce the signs of Inflammaging and is formulated with an array of algae extracts to help detoxify and energize skin. And as mentioned before, this facial oil is ideal for those of us with oily skin.
Sun-Care is Self-Care
As beauty consumers, we have begun to universally accept that skincare can be considered a form of self-care. And with this, our knowledge of what that self-care entails has expanded. One aspect of that is protecting ourselves from sun damage. Arguably, sunscreen is one of the most important skincare steps you need to implement and a sign of sun-damaged skin can be the appearance of dry, lackluster, or dehydrated skin. Maintaining a sunscreen step in your routine is ideal to continue to protect and maintain healthy skin. With this, we also want to ensure that we are protecting our skin from other forms of environmental aggressors such as Blue Light and the damage it can cause on the skin. Screen time is a major source of Blue Light damage and since our eyes are often glued to either our phones or laptops, utilizing Blue Light protection around our eyes is essential. For this, you would want to implement the Divine Elixir Luminous Skin Eye Oil. This smart oil absorbs quickly into the delicate eye area, protecting you against Blue Light damage – without interfering with your eye makeup. This clinically proven formula also works to firm skin.
Beauty Editor Hack: To take this step further for added protection, you can implement wearing Blue Light glasses for your screen time. My favorite is the Blue light range from Quay Australia.
