How to Destress Stressed Skin
RAYYAN, BEAUTY EDITOR | MARCH 16, 2022
Keeping up with ever-changing, moody, and unpredictable skin has to be one of the most frustrating aspects of maintaining a balanced skincare routine. That frustration often leads to the addition of intensely high, active ingredients to cope with the chaotic energy on the surface of your skin. Rarely would we condone a less is more approach for skincare as a form of self-care, but in the instance of distressed, irritated, or blemish-prone skin; less is more.
What Can Cause Distressed Skin?
While there is no definite answer to pinpoint what causes distressed skin, there are a variety of factors that may lead to it. One of the most common causes is environmental aggressors that can lead to stressed skin. For one, seasonal changes can cause the skin to become extra sensitive towards an abrupt change in humidity, colder weather, more sun exposure, and the list go on. These external factors can cause the skin to be more susceptible to stress or irritation.
Another cause for stressed skin or breakouts on the skin can be genetics. Most of how our body functions is a result of genetics, therefore becoming the blueprint of how our body acts or reacts. As a side note, diet can also be a factor.
With all of this said, a cause that is often overlooked is that our skin can go through changes periodically. We see this with the increase of wrinkles, dullness, and the loss of volume. The most common remedy is to switch over to products that are positioned as anti-aging however, the solution may be a lot simpler addition to your already existent skincare routine.
Ayurveda: a Holistic Practice for Wellness
When it comes to health and wellness, Ayurveda pushes the importance of balance in the mind, body, and spirit. This balance means you are equally taking care of your mental and emotional health, your body’s health, and your spiritual health. An equal approach to all of these aspects of your life leads to a harmonious disposition of self ultimately allowing you to live a healthier life. In other words: look good, feel good. And yes, this includes your beauty ritual as part of this harmonious balance.
Ashwagandha: the Hero Ingredient of Ayurveda
Regarded as the most important Ayurvedic herb, Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that helps the body restore balance and manage internal and external forms of stress. Featured as the hero ingredient in this body blend, Ashwagandha is a powerful natural root widely recognized as an antioxidant that helps prevent oxidative stress and cell breakdown that may cause accelerated aging. We formulate our Ayurveda skincare products with another restoring ingredient: Cannabis Sativa. Also, an antioxidant, Cannabis Sativa works to calm, soothe, and moisturize skin.
