Beauty Review: How to Recreate Our Favorite Met Gala Looks
RAYYAN, BEAUTY EDITOR | SEPTEMBER 15, 2021
The Met Gala is officially back after a year of hiatus and uncertainty from the pandemic and luckily, Vogue Magazine live-streamed the entire show allowing us to eagerly review all the looks that were served. For those watching or hearing about this event for the first time, here’s a little background on this yearly star-studded fashion and beauty event. The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala or just the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. The theme for this year was “In America: Lexicon of Fashion” where the focus was on American designs and designers. The resurgence of red-carpeted events was a sight to behold and as Beauty Editor, I was amazed at all the beauty looks from the most natural to the glamorous. Here’s a quick recap on my favorite looks and what you can use to recreate them.
Old Hollywood Glamour
Rapper and Musician, Meg Thee Stallion, looks effortlessly classic in this glamorous look. Bold lashes and highlighted skin are the focal points of this glam so to recreate, you’ll need the Scientific Color™ 4-in-1 Mascara and Scientific Color™ Glass Effect Treatment Balm in Shimmer.
90’s Supermodel and Icon, Iman, came with all the radiance and glow of the sun and I had no choice but to absolutely be obsessed with this energy! From the dress designed by Harrison Reed for over 400 hours to the fierce makeup, this look turned heads on the red carpet. What I loved was how luminous her skin also looked. You’ll need the Divine Elixir Luminous Dry Body Oil to get to the supermodel-level glow, for sure. And for an added touch of volume, the Scientific Color™ Volumizing Lip Tint will give your lips that extra hint of color and fullness to finish off this look.
Effortless Glowy Skin
A natural glow moment with Rapper and Musician, Lil Nas X just goes to show that sometimes less is more. To recreate this effortless glow, you’ll need the Divine Elixir Luminous Facial Oil.
Perfect for the Fall season too, Actress Gemma Chan touts the perfect pout with a natural red gloss finish. Her entire look is so chic and we love the subtleness the red lip gives. To get Gemma’s level of chicness, you’ll need the Divine Elixir Luminous Lip Oil in Crimson.
Singer and Musician, Lorde, made her reappearance on the red carpet even more memorable with a natural glam and beautiful smile. This look reminds us that the prep for glam is as important as the makeup so to give you that oh-so-natural look, you’ll need the Divine Elixir Luminous Mask for an instant glow followed by the Non-Negotiables® Pitahaya Essence to flood your skin with electrolytes and hydration.
